Fox Hill Road

What began as a consultation for a new stair evolved into a full-scale renovation touching nearly every room and redefining how the home is experienced. Originally constructed in phases, the home relied on a spiral staircase as its sole connection between levels. Through a careful study of the existing plan, we uncovered underutilized space on both floors, allowing for the design of a new stair that not only improves circulation but anchors the home architecturally. The reimagined foyer, once terminating at a blank wall, now unfolds into a moment of arrival that feels intentional, open, and inviting. Beyond the stair, the renovation introduces a series of thoughtful spatial shifts. The primary suite was completely reworked, with both the closet and laundry room relocated to better support daily routines, while an additional office was seamlessly integrated into the plan. Overlooking the James River, the home serves as a quiet respite from city life.
